We Flamingo Together

Today is my birthday and I wanted to share a card that makes me happy. It's an idea that's been in the back of my mind for a few weeks now, but I hadn't gotten around to creating it until now. And it turned out just like I wanted it to - which is amazing.

I'm not doing anything big today. Just a quiet day that I can spend on my favorite hobbies - which is a perfect birthday in my book. How do you like to celebrate?

Birthday Bear

Today is my brother's birthday, so I thought I'd share a birthday card. Birthday cards are the type of card I make the most, and yet I still never have enough of them. If I do decide to focus on a theme one of these months, I think it will be a Birthday theme. I certainly could use a bigger selection of birthday cards, not to mention completely cute and snuggly critters are perfectly at home on a birthday card - even when it's a card for a grown up.

I feel like I'm getting closer to putting up some personal challenges again, but I am trying to take it slow. I like the focus that I get from taking on a challenge, as it can make me more productive. The downside is that it does create some pressure and I really need to take things slow and easy, still. I may do some brainstorming and see what I can come up with.

Mission Control: Birthday

Today's card features a super cute astronaut stamp from the Birdie Brown line. I bought this stamp set in 2017, and never got around to inking it up. My big goal in 2020 is to use as many of the stamps I already own as possible. So, I decided to use a playful starry patterned paper and pair it with a simple scene.

Birthday Fishes

Birthday card for guys can be a challenge sometimes. But the palette of dusky teal with white, gray and a splash or red really works.

Breathe Deep

Today's card is a birthday creation. I am forever in need of birthday cards - to the point where I could probably only make birthday, Christmas and thank you cards all year long and I'd still run out. I'm slowly working on filling up my stash with cards so I'm not stuck pulling a brand new card in under 5 minutes. Though there's something to be said for creativity under pressure, I would feel much better if I was prepared ahead of time.

In the weeks to come, I may do a birthday challenge and make bunches of birthday cards for my stash.

Birthday Hugs

There's something about a gray/pink/yellow palette that I'm really crushing on lately. I really ought to play around with it more - especially when paired with a super cute birthday bear.

Birthday Cats

Dipping into my stash of Doodlebug pop stickers and adding a few more birthday cards to my collection. I do love these two cute kittens, I think they make for a fab "from us" card.

Birthday Chick

I never seem to run out of a need for birthday cards - and my card stash has been running dangerously low. So, I thought I'd knock out a birthday card and make use of a starry embossing folder. Quick and simple, but a festive little creation.

Sheep Birthday

I needed just one more birthday card this week, so a cute sheep to the rescue! I used a palette of browns, blues and yellows. I also used a patterned paper at an angle - it gave an interesting layout that I really ought to play with some more in the future.

Time to Seal-abrate

I have a couple of birthdays coming up at the end of the month, so I've been playing with birthday card designs. Today's card features Avery Elle's Seal-Abrate stamp set. This set features a punny sentiment which I've stamped on the inside of the card. I think it's a pretty fun design and makes for a playful birthday card.

Magical Wish

After an unintended break, I'm back to sharing a few card creations. The last couple of weeks have been a challenge - between work, health and general tiredness, I haven't had much time to get creative. And while I'm a big supporter of showing up to create regardless of whether I'm inspired or not, I felt on the brink of a creative burnout of sorts.

I think I've been pushing myself really hard to make dozens of ideas into reality, and that just does not work out well. So, I took a step back, gave myself a break and I plan to take things a little more slowly in the months to come.

Tulip Birthday

A quick birthday card share today with some tulips. I used some very quick Copic flat coloring, then added details with my Prismacolor pencils. It's a technique I enjoy, but have not done for some time. I'll have to pull out my pencils more often!

Stamp Trio Challenge: Lotus Birthday

Waffle Flower - Lotus stamp

For the final card in my Stamp Trio challenge, I decided to make something a bit clean-and-simple. I combined the elements from the first two cards, using a grab and aqua palette, along with some dotted vellum to tie the background to the images.

I really enjoyed this challenge and by limiting my coloring to an unusual palette, I ended up with 3 very lovely creations. I may push myself to do something like this with all of my floral stamps (and I've got a bunch of them...).

Thank you for taking a look.

Pinky Birthday

I'm working on my card stash again, and noticed that I was still in dire need of some birthday card. I thought I would start with a girl card - and that, of course, had to feature bright balloons, pink, stars and unicorns. I used the unicorn from The Greeting Farm and I think she turned out super sweet.

Princess Birthday

Pretty Pink Posh - Trick or Treating Friends

In my post a couple of days ago, I mentioned how versatile this trick-or-treating stamp set would be for cards other than Halloween. So, I decided to use one of girls and color her as a lovely and sweet princess.

I also pulled out an embossing folder to create a textured background for my focal panel. I don't use my embossing folders very often, but I think they can add a lot of interest to a card -- especially when I want that tone-on-tone look.

Birthday Ellie

Lawn Fawn - Elphie Selfie stamp

We've got a birthday party to head to this weekend, and I noticed that my birthday card stash has gone dangerously low. Of course, I had to quickly fix that and make a few extra birthday cards.

For today's card, I opted for a cute little elephant and a fun confetti background. I just love finding the perfect patterned paper in my stash!

Birthday Shark

Lawn Fawn - Duh Nuh, Happy Happy Happy, Bokeh paper (retired)

Today, I'm sharing a birthday boy card featuring a shark and some fun bokeh effects. I think bokeh looks a lot like bubbles, and it matched up perfectly with the dangerous (yet cute) shark.

I had fun splattering a piece of black cardstock with some pearlescent paints, and I added a bit more color with my Sakura Soufflé pens (which made for a raised texture, too). I found the perfect "yay" puffy sticker in my stash and that tied everything together.
