I've got a great collection of travel papers that I've been meaning to use for some time, but I always felt like I couldn't find the right stamp to go along with them. I decided to jump into using them and make a few unique masculine cards. I think it turned out pretty fab!

Have I mentioned that I absolutely adore the lumberjack from Sugar Pea Designs' Timber stamp set? I just love how happy he looks! So, I just had to add him to a simple hello card - featuring a woodsy masculine motif and a polaroid snapshot background.

Since I'd been toying with that idea of making a scene card, I finally bit the bullet and made one. I used a ton of different elements and combined several companies, but I think it turned out really fun. I played around with the card layout, too, and I think it looks really interesting.

My Favorite Things - (BB) Beast Friends, Essential Sentiments, Sugarpea Designs - Timber (tree)

Today, I thought I'd give a go to another masculine card - this time, an encouraging one. I was torn between creating a scene and just plain layering, so I opted for a semi-scene -- all the scene elements are still there, but it's simplified. I combined a couple of My Favorite Things stamp sets with a tree from Sugarpea Designs.

For embellishment, I dug into my wood veneer stash -- something I don't seem to use often, but really ought to. Just a couple stars and a bright blue dot tied everything together.

Cut above the rest

I wanted to play with Sugar Pea Designs's lumberjack a bit more, so I created another Valentine's card. This time, I went for a combination of chocolate brown and pink - which I think is a fun and warm palette. It made the bluish tree and the friendly lumberjack stand out pretty well.

Sugar Pea Designs - Timber stamp.

Okay, confession time... For a few years now, one of my favorite cards to make for Valentine's day is a lumberjack card. I don't know what it is about lumberjacks, but I just adore them and I really enjoy putting them on love cards. They make for a card that's both mushy (because love cards kind of always tend to be) and masculine. Plus, who can resist those plaid shirts?!

This lumberjack stamp is from Sugar Pea Designs and I've colored it several times, so I can hand them out as a Valentine to a few friends/family. I paired today's lumberjack with a dark red woodgrain and made a very simple little scene.
