Falling in Owls

Yes, it's still the brightest of summers, but I just couldn't resist using this lovely autumn paper and a fall sentiment with these two cute owls. I stamped some extra mini hearts and added a dashed line, and added some eyelashes to make the left owl more girly.

CAS - Ruby

The Greeting Farm - Ruby (retired), Hero Arts - Written in the Stars (retired)

A very clean-and-simple quick card for today. I used a cute retro stamp called Ruby and a hand-sketched border around the card to add a bit of whimsy.

Bits & Pieces: Look Up

For today's bits-n-pieces card, I decided to make use of a tag and two colored foxes from Lawn Fawn's Mom + Me stamp set. I kept the rest of the card very simple, adding a panel of rainbow patterned paper and light blue cardstock. Although the card is colorful, I think it has a more muted feeling, so it works as a gender-neutral card.

Magical Summer

Lawn Fawn - Gleeful Gardens stamp, Lawn Fawn - Stitched Journaling Card die and Puffy Cloud Borders die.

I wanted to give scene-building another try, so I made another fantastical summer forest card featuring magical mushrooms, snails and hummingbirds. I decided to use a mint cardstock to cut some panels for layering - they gave the effect of soft wispy bushes.

I set everything against a yellow plaid pattern and a bright blue card base. I decided to omit a sentiment for the front of the card, but I added a little panel inside the card with a simple thanks.

Fairwee Jilly

C.C. Designs- (Sweet November) Fairwee Jilly (retired)

A couple of weeks ago, I shared one cute fairwee fairy, and I wanted to share another one today. This is Jilly, and I just love her cute curly hair. I decided to try the layered look again, adding some die-cut cardstock and foliage.

Since the card had a fun layered look, I pulled out some resin flowers and rounded the bottom right corner of the card. I added a pre-made sentiment strip and scattered a couple enamel dots around the page.

Hello Pup

Doodlebug - Puppy Love sticker, Simon Says Stamp - Small Hello die

I made a kitten card, so I just had to make a puppy card to match. As with the previous card, I kept things simple and made good use of paper and cardstock scraps that I had laying around the desk.

Bits and Pieces: Beachy Sunshine

Today's card features the Beachies stamp from C.C. Designs. I had the striped panel sitting on my desk from a previous card, and I grabbed the red polka-dot swimsuit girl from my colored images stash. I thought they paired together great.

I went for a really simple design that makes the girl and the sentiment shine. I used some letter stickers to spell out Hello, along with a sunshine sticker. I think this gave the sentiment a wonky whimsical feeling that goes perfectly with the summer theme.

Kitten Thanks

Simon Says Stamp - Many Thanks stamp, Doodlebug - Kitten Smitten stickers

I have a few sheets of Doodlebug stickers and I just love how adorable they are. In an effort to use my supplies, however, I decided to make good use of the stickers and add them to some simple cards. For today's card, I went with a thank you sentiment and a fun cloudy border.

Humming Thanks

Hummingbirds seem to be the trend lately, so I thought I'd jump in with a simple humming bird card using Lawn Fawn's Gleeful Gardens stamp set. I really enjoyed coloring the bird, using some blue and pink tones. I also added a whole bunch of enamel dots in bright colors to finish off the simple card.

So Clever

In contrast to yesterday's summer card, I went with a more autumnal look today. Autumn is my favorite season, even if it only feels like it lasts a week or two some years. For today's card, I used Lawn Fawn's Mom + Me stamp set and some stitched dies. I drew the branch for the owls by hand, just to add a bit of a scene/grounding to the images.

CCD- Margarita Sue

Nothing says summer like sitting in a lounging chair with your favorite fruity drink. For today's card, I used Margarita Time stamp that I colored in my currently-obsessed-with shades of pink, orange and yellow. Since I planned to add a strip of rainbow paper to the background, I made sure to add a touch of blue and green to the colored image.

Peek-a-boo Ice Cream

Today, I'm sharing the second card I mentioned that features a square peek-a-boo window die and some delicious treats. I used the iconic delicious ice cream from Lawn Fawn's Here's The Scoop and the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Ice Cream Dream. I kept the rest of the card very simple and chose a neutral pattern for the ice-creams.

Summer Bonjour

For today's card, I went a bit more complicated than usual and made a scene card featuring Lawn Fawn's Gleeful Gardens stamp set. I layered lots of elements from the stamp set - alternating between flat adhesive and foam tape to add some interesting dimension. I used the Stitched Journaling Card die for my front panel, and added a rainbow pattern in the back.

Ice-cream Trio

Yes, we're right back to ice-cream - and mainly because I just happened to have a few extra colored bits laying around my crafty desk. I actually made two cards, but I'll share the second one on a different day. For this card, I enjoyed adding little square panels as the frozen treats background, and I used an interesting yellow patterned paper as a backdrop - as yellow is a very "summer" color in my mind.

Yellow Fairy Fly

C.C. Designs - Sweet November Fairwee Emaline (retired)

And now, for something different... I really wanted to make a fairy card, and I pulled out a lovely set of little fairies from C.C. Designs (they're retired, unfortunately). I decided to try my hand at the layered style again, so I added some white foliage and tiny butterflies. The background is a yellow and white stripe, so I kept that monochromatic look with the die-cuts and the front panel (which was water-colored). I think this monochromatic sort of look really helps the fairy stand out -- which is good, as I kept her coloring very simple and low-contrast.

Sweet & Cool

For today's card, I was playing some more with Simon's Ice Cream Dream set, as well as adding bits of dimension. I paired the images with a piece of striped patterned paper and added a few enamel dots to tie everything together.

Thanks for taking a look. :)

Summer Picnic

Another favorite summer activity for me is barbecue. We grill often during the summer months - both because it's delicious and because it keeps the power bills down (running AC can get costly) - and there's something so iconic about eating freshly made BBQ picnic-style. For this card, I used Lawn Fawn's Let's BBQ stamp set, along with a milkshake from Here's The Scoop.

Summer Treat Trio

More icy-cold treats today in another summer card! Again, I used Lawn Fawn's Here's The Scoop, along with the Simon Says Stamp Ice Cream Dream set. I decided to go with an aperture opening for this card and add some bright oranges and summer reds to the background.

Bits & Pieces: Country Hello

Today's creation is another bits-n-pieces card, where I grab various supplies from my stash in an effort to use them up. For this card, I used a sticker from Pebbles that features a lovely bouquet of wildflowers in a tin can. I love the country charm of the sticker, so I added a starry paper and a doily to enhance the theme.

I finished the card off with a die-cut hello sentiment and a few enamel dots.

Strawberry Cool

It's a hot summer this year in my corner of the world, and we're surviving on icy-cold ice cream treats. Of course, I wanted to celebrate the season (and the treats!) with a card or two. For today's card, I went with strawberry pink tones and images from Lawn Fawn's Here's The Scoop stamp set.

And, yes, you do spy that pink-to-yellow ombré on the ice-pop. I'm still so drawn to that palette and I have to stop myself from using it on every card...

Thanks for taking a look! :)

Pin-Up Birthday

Today's card adds a bit of retro/pin-up motif to my card stash. I really like the birthday sentiment with its art-deco font, and I had to dig through my stash to find a perfect image to go along with it. I liked the cheeky pin-up look of this nurse from The Greeting Farm, so I just had to color her in and add her to the card.

I kept the rest of the card very simple, using a red polkadot patterned paper and some enamel dots to finish everything off.

Otter and Love

You guessed it! I just couldn't resist another little otter card. This time around, I combined two different papers from two different paper lines - and I think they fit together pretty well. I added some red hearts for contrast and embossed the sentiment.

Curious Green

I don't use green very often- particularly this medium shade of green. I guess it's partly because I haven't made too many flower cards lately. I thought it's about time to try to use up some of those green tones sitting in my stash, so I made a quick card with a curious little raccoon.

BP: Cat & Donuts

One of the most fun challenges I give myself is to blindly reach for things in my bits and pieces box and see how I can use them together. Case in point- today I pulled out a cat, some donuts and a doily. I wasn't sure how to use them together, but I found this scrabble paper that had a similar tone, and everything suddenly just fell into place as I recalled one of my friend's cats. This was a humongous monster of a cat whose biggest pleasure in life was licking sprinkles off donuts while no one was looking.

So, this card is for you, Binky. May you find trays upon trays of sprinkled donut goodies in kitty heaven.

Red and Blue Celebrate

Sometimes, I really enjoy just playing around with different bits and pieces on my desk and layering them together in fun was. That's how today's layout came to be, and with my chosen palette, it turned into a little bit of a patriotic card.

As today is Independence Day in the US, I thought it would be appropriate to share.

Love You Cupid

This adorable cupid somehow snuck into my "use now" pile, so I just had to make a card with him. I paired him with a sentiment from an ephemera pack and a die-cut heart. A vellum panel helped soften the transition between the white front and the black card base.

Otterly Adore

On a CAS kick again, I made another sweet card with Otterly Love You. This time, it's a mom and her otter pup, and I think this would make a sweet baby card or maybe even a Mothers' Day card. I liked the combination of teal, white and soft brown. I think it feels summery and fresh.

CAS: Love You

One of my favorite things about Pinkfresh Studio paper pads is that they have so many interesting designs that make it breezy to create quick cards. Take today's creation, for example... I just added some letter stickers, a die-cut you and a little heart - but it looks like I spent ages on the card. In that sense, it almost feels a little like cheating, but I love the end result so much that I just had to share the card.

Thanks for taking a look.
