Bits & Pieces: Happy Fox

It has been a long week, and I'm so ready for the weekend! I'm sharing a simple card today, using some bits and pieces that were floating around my desk. I'm excited to get crafty again this weekend. It feels like there's never quite enough time to make a whole bunch of cards during the week.

Palette Trio Challenge: Grey, Mint, Yellow, Pink, White

The last card for the palette challenge is decidedly the most complicated - with white, grey, mint, yellow and pink, it has the biggest number of colors. However, it's still very CAS thanks to my not-so-secret weapon: patterned paper.

The patterned paper I used is from Pinkfresh Studio, and it is a veritable piece of art. All the layered colors and the splatters are already on the paper, so all I have to do is trim the paper to fit my card base and layer over sentiments and ephemera.

This is one of the quickest cards I made, as I simply added an ephemera butterfly from my stash and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp. A couple enamel dots, and voila! Stunning card is done.

Minty Smile

Avery Elle - Woodland Wonders

I love creating encouragement cards. Not only are they full of fun and brightness, but they really do bring an unexpected smile to the recipient's face. 

For today's card, I used a little cut-apart from Pinkfresh Studio and a couple of sweet critters from Avery Elle's Woodland Wonders (hint: you will see many cards with this stamp in the near future). I went for cool, minty tones for a fantasy bunny and owl, and set them against a fun patterned paper.

Bits & Pieces: Dream Big

PinkFresh Studio - Happy Things 6x6 (retired)

As most of my Bits & Pieces cards, I kept today's creation really simple. I used some patterned paper scraps and a few enamel dots for a very CAS card. I really like all the elements on this card, and I think it turned out pretty great.

CAS: Love You

One of my favorite things about Pinkfresh Studio paper pads is that they have so many interesting designs that make it breezy to create quick cards. Take today's creation, for example... I just added some letter stickers, a die-cut you and a little heart - but it looks like I spent ages on the card. In that sense, it almost feels a little like cheating, but I love the end result so much that I just had to share the card.

Pinkfresh Studio - Happy Days stamp

Today's card is a quick creation using a stamp set from Pinkfresh Studio. I fell in love with the designer's (Tokomo) style and just had to grab this set along with a couple of others last year... I colored the image with Copics and added a layered vellum panel for extra interest.

Warm Heart Bunnies

This morning was a rather chilly start to my day. It was just above freezing - so not quite cold enough for my breath to steam up, but cold enough for the air to smell of frost and snow. Just a couple of weeks ago, we were still sporting shorts and t-shirts. And it's already time to bring out the warm coats.

Speaking of warm coats... I just adored them on these two sweet winter bunnies! I paired the bunnies with a geometric patterned paper and a simple sentiment. It's a winter card without being Christmas.

Bits and Pieces: Warm my Heart

I just love paper. Some card-makers live for stamps and ink, some love their dies. I'm a patterned paper kind of girl. Not only do I love the look, the smell and the feel of paper, but I find it so inspiring. I take great joy in choosing the perfect paper to go with my stamp (or the perfect stamp to go with my paper!).

There's so much variety in patterned paper, too. You have the standard basics like polkadots and stripes, and then you have complex shapes or artistic patterns. There's watercolor effects, paint splatters and a bundle of textures and techniques that would take me hours to create. That's my favorite thing about patterned paper, by the way. I can have all the trendy looks, but without a ton of experimentation and inconsistent results. Don't get me wrong, I do like trying out new things, but when I want just one card to look a specific way, a patterned paper will do.

Today's card uses the lovely paper from Pinkfresh Studio's Indigo Hills. I've paired it with an MFT cat + accessory stamp (retired) and a simple sentiment from Perk Up.

SK January: Favorite You

Today's card is the first card in the January's Stash Kit project (you can read more about the project here, and see January supplies here).

Whenever I start on the kit cards, I always start by laying out all the supplies and making a quick "warm-up" card. I don't usually keep this card - it's just playful practice to get me more familiar with the supplies I'm using. But this time, I actually rather like how the card turned out.

I kept the card super simple, adding just a couple of dies (tag and a scripty You), along with a couple of stickers and enamel shapes. Not too shabby for a practice card, right?

Stash Kit: January 2017

Since it's a new year, I thought I'd start with a fresh new kit for January -- and take the opportunity to incorporate some of the recently-purchased supplies I got in the holiday sales. I've added extra stamps for January, as I intend to carry some of them over to the months that follow.
