Thanks Bear

There's always a need for thank you cards, and they're probably my favorite kind of card to make (and the kind of card I make the most often). Any kind of scene can fit a thank you card, be it playful/cute or subdued and solemn.

For this card, I went with something simple - maybe even fitting a melancholy mood of a winter scene. I have a little box full of images I colored in the past that have yet to find a home on a card. I'm going to try and use them on the next few cards I make, as they make for some quicker cards.

Astronaut (take 2)

I've been enjoying using patterned paper a lot lately, so I thought I'd try to use up some scraps, too. I like how the concept turned out!

Astro-World

With so many boys in the family, I'm perpetually in need of boy cards. Thankfully, I've got a few fun boy-themed stamps in my stash that make boy cards a breeze.

Watercolor Hello

Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm ready to celebrate. I won't be sharing a card, so here is a mermaid-y creation today to share the joy. I did a little bit of watercoloring and stamping for texture. I think it turned out pretty great.

Captain of My Heart

Keeping up with the nautical theme, here is a super simple little love card. I combined Birdie Brown's Mermazing and Party Like a Pirate stamp, along with a bit of inking over patterned paper. It's very simple, but I think it works.

Ahoy Scene

Can't do a mermaid card without also having some pirate fun. I played with making my own water texture on simple colored cardstock with a Copic marker and a white gel pen. I think it turned out pretty good and really makes the cute Pirate stamp shine.

Space Mermaid

Do you ever get an idea in your head that just keeps creeping back in until you make it happen? I've had this concept of space mermaids stuck in my brain for ages, but never could figure out how to turn it into a card. I decided to just jump in and play with another Birdie Brown stamp set and made a fun little card. The background is layered watercolor and the stars are pearlescent paint that glimmers softly in the light.

Mission Control: Birthday

Today's card features a super cute astronaut stamp from the Birdie Brown line. I bought this stamp set in 2017, and never got around to inking it up. My big goal in 2020 is to use as many of the stamps I already own as possible. So, I decided to use a playful starry patterned paper and pair it with a simple scene.

Sending hugs scene

As you may have noticed, there wasn't much crafty activity on the blog over the past couple of months. I had a very busy holiday season, and then I took a creative break in early January. A portion of my break was spent organizing supplies and getting ready for a creative new year. The rest was just giving myself a break after a frenzy of Christmas crafting.

I'm finally ready to slowly get back into crafting again and thought I'd make a scene card as the big comeback. This particular scene has been percolating in my brain for a little while now, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Birthday Hugs

There's something about a gray/pink/yellow palette that I'm really crushing on lately. I really ought to play around with it more - especially when paired with a super cute birthday bear.

Beachy Sunshine

It's time for more work today - though I'd much rather be at the beach. I thought Id add a simple little scene and embellish with a black doily and some enamel dots.

My Superhero

We all have that superhero guy in our lives that deserves to be celebrated, and what a better way than with a fun and simple little card?! I had a lot of fun with this card, choosing the perfect paper and colors. I really like how the primary colors worked and pulled that heroic look together.

Super News

When I was a kid, my brother and I used to get up early every Saturday morning to watch super hero cartoons. It's one of my fondest memories, so I tried to capture that nostalgic feeling in a slightly-vintage kind of card featuring a newspaper print. I opted for sepia colors and made a subtle citiscape background for the superhero to stand against.

I think it turned out pretty fun and it's going to make a superhero-loving guy happy.

Brave Viking

I couldn't resist coloring this Viking one more time. I used bright colors and paired him with the awesome dragon paper from my Echo Park. There's something about dragons and adventure that makes by mind brim with ideas - it must be all the fantasy books I've read over the years.

Bits & Pieces: Be Mine

A quick share today - just playing with bits and pieces of things on my desk. I did enjoy using velum on this card. It's an embossed velum that has fun silver or gold elements. Combined with a fun patterned paper and an embossed sentiment, I think it turned out pretty fun.
