Small Blog Tweaks

Now that we're half-way through 2019 and things have settled to a more natural pace, I wanted to make a chatty post and share a few of my plans for the rest of the year (and hopefully onward). I'm hoping that these changes will make both sharing and creating a little easier. As I like the idea of regular sharing, this kind of schedule should help me stay on track a little better.

The first is a posting schedule:
- Cards/projects shared daily Monday through Friday, with minimal text.
- Saturday and Sunday are my days off, with occasional chatty posts shared on Sundays.
- Once per month, I will be doing a recap post of the previous month.
- Once per season, I will be taking a whole week off to catch up or take a creative break.

I'm hoping that this new schedule will help me stay active on my blog and on Instagram without feeling overwhelmed. As it takes significant time to create, photograph, edit and schedule all the posts, I've found it really difficult to do this daily and still produce quality content. If I have a bad week where I'm sick or where there's a ton of events happening, it becomes extremely stressful to try and keep up the pace.

The second thing I wanted to share is that I will try to do a destash giveaway or two in the near future.

While I don't want this to be a giveaway blog, I do have a few stamps and supplies that could use a new loving home, and I would love to pass them on to someone who will truly enjoy them. I thought about selling them at a discount, but I don't have enough free time to be a seller and it seemed like an extra layer of stressful little tasks to ensure the exchange goes smoothly. So, I'd rather just do a giveaway when I can afford to ship off some goodies.

Lastly, I will be working on some personal mini-challenges again to keep things interesting.

I have a notebook full of ideas, themes, sketches and palettes and I want to turn it into cards. I would like to work my way through it - and have it help me work through a few other secret projects I've got going on.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Can't wait to see what you come up with for personal challenges as your ideas in the past have been excellent. Just wanted to throw out there that you shouldn't feel pressured to post every weekday. Subscribers and friends will understand. I'm not a huge fan of recaps and normally just scroll through them without spending much/any time. I know the effort it would take (on Wordpress anyway) to repost those pics from your blog gallery, and for what? If its a SEO thing, then OK, but unless you have a personal reason, I say save your time! And while I know some people have to actually schedule a creative break (from DTS and such) you should feel free to break when ever you need it, even if its more than once per season. For me, summer and winter are always unpredictable. I def take more breaks those seasons. Anyway, eager to see what else you do. I don't comment often but enjoy your cards!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind commend and your wonderful feedback, Karen! I know we all lead busy lives and commenting sometimes takes second seat.

I'm really glad to hear those personal challenges resonated with you, too. I always really enjoy them as a way to stretch my creative muscles and even stretch those supplies. I have a few new ideas I'm working on that I'm really excited to share.

I do kind of go back and forth on recaps, too. I don't want to revisit/repost all the projects done in a month, but I thought it might be kind of cool to see if I can spot any trends. Like if I used a particular technique or palette a lot. Though it's mainly something that will work with one of the big projects/challenges I'm working on behind the scenes. I might play it by ear for now, though, and see if it's something that would actually be helpful or just be more work/stress.

  2. I had a feeling you had an analytical purpose as a motive :-) I can't wait to see what you are planning. For the first time I plan on participating in the 30 day challenge at the Daily Marker. I have no excuses this time for not playing along most days. I sure have enough supplies to play along for the rest of my natural life and long into the after world! LOL

    1. Me too! I have so many yet-to-be-used supplies that it's almost embarrassing. I'm unofficially participating in the Daily Marker challenge, too. As in, I am coloring something every day, but I'm not sharing the results anywhere. I have time to color most days, but no time to also photograph and whatnot. It's an awesome challenge, and definitely leaves you with a whole bunch of images you can use on projects down the line.
