Birthday Boy - SOG

I've seen several bloggers and YouTube crafters create a card series around a theme or card type, and I really love the idea. Not only do I get to practice my creativity, but I get to see what stamps might be missing from my now extensive collection of stamps.

So, let's get started with a new series: Masculine cards (for boys and men)! The next 5 cards will all be masculine cards.

This first card is a birthday card for a younger boy - and it's very bright and cheerful.

I started by stamping Big Day Tobie from Some Odd Girl in Memento tuxedo black ink. After coloring him in with Copics, I carefully cut him out and set him aside.

For the front panel, I layered two rainbow-colored patterned paper. I set them slightly higher than the middle of the panel to leave some room at the bottom for the sentiment. After adhering a piece of grosgrain ribbon to the middle of the panel, I adhered Tobie using foam squares.

I stamped the sentiment in Memento tuxedo black ink and colored it in with Copics. Since some of the letters were much darker than others, I added a few white dots with my white gel pen.

Lastly, I added a small banner to the top of the card. I did a messy outline in white gel pen and adhered a round diecut as the last bit of decoration.

I'm really excited to make cards for this theme. I've been going through the many stamps I now own, and the creative ideas are really flowing. I can't wait to share all the cards and see what you think.
